My name is Jane Higgins and I am a Community Worker at Surestart Millmead, I came into post in January.
On a Friday morning I run a parent and toddler group called Little Explorers, the group involves big play equipment which is used at the start of the session. This is followed by activities for parents and children to do together. As the name of the group suggests we explore different materials from our environment these include textures for art work, eating new foods and looking at insects.
I am also involved with the Surestart netball team that train once a week and play in the local league.
In September I will be helping to run a Healthy Eating on a Budget course. Parents will learn about healthy eating and we will prepare meals that are healthy for the family and within their budget.

Sally Ramshead - Community Worker / Maternity support worker
I have been employed at Millmead Children's Centre since April 2001. In my role as a community worker I take the lead in Baby Days, Healthy Eating, Art Group and Magical Multiples . As with all community workers I undertake home visiting. This is a major part of our role as at Millmead Children's Centre we believe that the parent's voice is vitally important.
I am a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter and train other mothers to be Peer supporters.
I really enjoy my job and have great pleasure in meeting many parents and children during home visits and those who access the services available at the children's centre.
As we visit families from the antenatal period until the children are 5 it's a pleasure to watch the babies grow into delightful children.
